Brian Plitnik
Part-Time Lecturer—Trombone
Brian Plitnik has earned music degrees from both Frostburg State University and West Virginia University. Plitnik is a Trombone Instructor and Director of Trombone Ensembles at W.V.U., where he is currently completing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance. Plitnik has previously served as adjunct faculty at F.S.U., where he chartered the Low Brass Society—an official student organization committed to the musical advancement of low brass instruments.
In addition to performing with ensembles such as the Stage Left Theatre Orchestra, the Apple Alley Players, West Virginia Public Theatre Orchestra, Emmanuel Brass, the Potomac Highlands Dance Band, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, Plitnik has also appeared with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra (Bill Tole), Bobby Vinton, and Rick K. and the All-Nighters. In 2008, Plitnik was selected to perform a solo recital for the prestigious “Music at Penn Alps” music series in Grantsville, MD.
Additionally, Plitnik is the co-founder of Coronation Brass, a professional brass ensemble for hire in the tri-state area. He has served as a Brass clinician and guest conductor in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. Plitnik has published in the Journal of the International Alliance for Women in Music, and also serves as the Low Brass Instructor at the Cumberland Music Academy in Cumberland, Maryland.
