Christine Bane Kefferstan
Professor – Piano
Recognized by the WVU Division of Music and by WVMTA for her excellence in teaching, Professor Kefferstan received her DMA from the College-Conservatory of Cincinnati where she studied with David Bar-Illan. Her international performances include a solo recital at the Belize Center for Culture and on the Recital Series at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London in collaboration with colleague Francesca Arnone. As founder of the Sarasvati Trio, appearances include recitals in Toronto, San Antonio and on the Taft Chamber Series, Cincinnati, OH. As recitalist, lecturer and adjudicator, Kefferstan has presented programs throughout the United States. Her articles have appeared in Keyboard Companion, Clavier, and Piano Quarterly.
An active member of Music Teachers National Association, Kefferstan has served as WV State President, Eastern Division President, and member of both the National Foundation Board and the Board of Directors. Kefferstan’s students have placed in the Amateur Competition of the Van Cliburn, Greensboro Music Academy, Bartok-Kabalevsky Competition, Stravinsky Competition, the Fite Family competition, the Pittsburgh Young Artists, and in various MTNA competitions.
