John Weigand

Professor – Clarinet

John Weigand, Professor of Clarinet, offers a unique approach to teaching based upon his experience as a performer, his training with world-reknowned artist-teachers, and his expertise in mouthpiece design. With his D.M.A. from Florida State, his Master of Music from Northwestern University, and his undergraduate degree from Oberlin, Dr. Weigand has studied with Robert Marcellus, Fred Ormand, and Lawrence McDonald. His research and skill in mouthpiece design has gained him an international reputation. He is presently a member of the West Virginia Symphony, the Seneca Chamber Orchestra, the Laureate Quintet of West Virginia University, and performs with the Baltimore Symphony. He has been named outstanding teacher in the Division of Music and the College of Creative Arts.
