Peter Amstutz

Professor – Piano

In addition to instructing prize-winning students, Peter Amstutz has received many awards himself: Fulbright Scholar at the Vienna Academy of Music, prizewinner in the 1975 Maryland International Piano Competition; and medalist in the 1976 Casagrande International Piano Competition. Amstutz, who received his D.M.A., his Master’s degree, and his Bachelor’s degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, was a student of Leon Fleisher. His 1987 New York debut and European concert tour received favorable reviews in The New York Times and the Saarbrücker Zeitung. Amstutz is a clinician for piano teacher organizations across the nation and has recently presented concerts and master classes in Japan and in the People’s Republic of China. Previously, he taught at the University of Colorado and at Oklahoma State University, where he received that institution’s highest prize for individual faculty members.
