Trevor flutes

June 20-29, 2009

Come to an intensive, fun and inspiring week-long class presented by master teacher Trevor Wye, with the assistance of the dynamic pianist Dianne Frazer, WVU flute professor Francesca Arnone, and performing arts yoga instructor, Nicole Gauthier-Schatz. The first two days will be especially devoted to the study of some of our repertoire’s most important etudes and how to best address them from a teaching perspective. Beginning June 22, the seminar artists will present a unique masterclass experience offering a wide variety of learning opportunities each day.

Daily activities include group warm ups sessions with improvisation, transposition, and stimulating practice routines; studies class to address the building blocks of music; repertoire classes emphasizing the collaborative nature of flute and piano repertoire; and the opportunity to take private lessons with Dr. Arnone. The class includes daily informal performances by the artists and ends with a student recital in which all class performers participate. Back by popular demand will be certified yoga instructor Nicole Gauthier-Shatz, who will offer a yoga course created specifically for performers.
